He is survived by: his son Dr. Brett Gilbert; his daughter-in-law Paula; his grandsons, Adam and Matthew; his daughter Missy (Chris); his grandson Dean; his brother Larry Gilbert; and his sister-in-law Caroline Gilbert. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
