He was predeceased by: his parents, William F. Ryan Sr. and Clare C. Cantwell Ryan; and his brother Terrence G. Ryan. He is survived by: his wife Donna McCorriston Ryan; his children, Wendy (Peter Gordon), Jennifer Perry (Amy Ryan) and Patrick Kovach-Long; his grandchildren, Jack, Molly, Addy Clare and Theodore; his siblings, William F. (Christine Ryan), Daniel P. Ryan and Elizabeth A. Ryan (Samuel Kramer); and his extended family, Margaret, Frank Gonzalez, Debra Zube, John Pappano, Kathleen, Frank Csik, Timothy McCorriston, Jeannie and Robert Perry. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
