She was predeceased by: her parents, John Stephen Kakascik and Mary Chowka Kakascik; her brother John Kakascik; and her cousin Paul Klemchalk. She is survived by: her husband Paul Harris; her niece Tanja Nielsen; her nephew Jason Karsen; her great-nephew Soren Karsen; her sister-in-law Cheryl Kakascik of Wyckoff, NJ; her sisters, Kathleen Karsen and Susan Hall of Carlsbad, CA; and her cousins, Georgette Lentz-Straub and Matthew Klemchalk (Jane).
Visitation was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church (365 Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ 07652). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the same location.
Contributions in honor of Dr. Joan Kakascik are welcomed by Christ the Savior Church, St. Thikon's Cemetery, any nonprofit organization serving developmentally disabled persons, and, of course, a contribution in her memory to your favorite cause.
