He is survived by: his wife Patricia; his children, James D. Mathie Jr. (Virginia) and Sherri Clemente (Helio); his grandchildren, Madison and Tyler; and his siblings, William Mathie, La Vere Mathie, Lela Hepner and Ellen Hedin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
