She was predeceased by: her parents, Wilhem Steigerwald and Margareta "Gretel" Steigerwald (Geisel); and her siblings, Traudel, Gertrude, Gerhard and Helene.

She is survived by: her husband Edward T. Thompson of Hamilton; her daughters, Angela (Robert Jewell), Susan (Kevin Mellan) and Jennifer (Todd Dromboski); and her grandsons, Tyler Mellan, Trevor and Colton Dromboski. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
