He was predeceased by: his parents, James J. Birch and Jane R. Birch (Golden); his sister Sharon Birch; and his mother-in-law Eleanor Gentles. He is survived by: his wife Lynne M. Birch (Gentles) of Hamilton; his children, Michael J., James J., Jr., Stephanie Birch of Hamilton and Megan M. Birch of Robbinsville; his siblings, Debbie (Anthony LaRue), Sandra (Kristopher Paul), William (Rosemary Birch), Susan (Darren Doty) and John (Christina Birch); his aunt Janice Golden of Hamilton; and his father-in-law Paul Gentles (Carol Bagley). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loving family members.
