He was predeceased by: his parents, John MacFarlane and Elizabeth MacFarlane; and his brothers, John, Richard and Douglas MacFarlane.
He is survived by: his sons, Gene Alan MacFarlane (Jennifer) and Lucas Eli MacFarlane (Michelle); the mother of his children Beverly MacFarlane; his grandchildren, Ethan, Autumn, Riley, Noel, Logan and Holly; and his great grandchild Kendall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alan's memory to Southeastern Railway Museum, Duluth, GA. You can suggest they use the donation for new wheelchairs as Alan mentioned them needing new ones.
