He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Gant Sr. and Ellen Gant; and his brothers, Ernest Gant (Marie) and Kelsie Wright. He is survived by: his wife Lavon Gant; his children, Jeffrey Smalls of Atlanta, GA, Ernest Wright of Florida, Sonyette Jones (Shawn), Patrice Diaz of Maryland and Khadijah Chase (late Keith Chase) of Atlanta, GA.; his daughter-in-law Trellis Garvin of Rincon, GA.; his siblings, Sam Gant Jr. (Dorothy) of Springfield, GA and Janice Brown of Savannah, GA.; and his grandchildren, Katrina Singleton (DeAndre) of Georgia, Elijah Staggers (Taylor) of Georgia, Karee Chase of Georgia, Kayla Chase of Georgia, Antonio Diaz of Maryland, Asia Diaz of Maryland, Shawn Jones of Maryland and Aaron Jones of Maryland. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
