She was predeceased by: her husband Wasyl "Wes" Kowalew; her son-in-law Christopher Klammer; and her parents, Walter (Edwina Brown Patterson) and Millard "Dick" (Virginia Birdsall). She is survived by: her daughters, Barbara Kowalew of Howell and Brenda Klammer of Jackson; her grandchildren, Nicholas and Sarah Ward; her sister Ann; her brother-in-law Richard Malsbury, Sr. of Howell; and her pets, Wasca and Sasha. She is also survived by 4 nieces and 1 nephew.
