He was predeceased by: his parents, John Griggs and Thelma Griggs; his brothers, Curtis and Bobby Griggs; and his daughter Judy Griggs.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Griggs (Wallace); his daughters, Michelle Baker of Howell Twp, Cynthia Mapp of Brielle and Rosemarie Jenkins- of Harrisburg, PA; his grandchildren, Koren Baker of Howell Twp, Christopher Baker of Jackson Twp, George Mapp, III of Brielle, Dylan Mapp of Brielle and Jaylen L. of Washington; his great grandchild Ryenn Baker; and his son-in-law George Mapp, Jr..
