He is survived by: his grandchildren, Ericka, Nakaia, Torri, Nyle, Daija and Jailyn; his great grandchildren, Janiyah, Stephanie, Xavier, Taylor and Elijah; his wife Vernell Bailey Carter; his children, Marilyn Lott (Willie), Robin Carter Ellerbe and Kenneth Steven Carter (Verona); his siblings, Wallicia Griffin, Mozella Lamar (Thomas), Helen Sue Carter (John), Dolores Brooks (Wilbur Sr.), Lenton Alfred Carter, Thaddeus Carter (Marjorie) and Jerome Carter; his grandchild Taja (Guy); his goddaughter Whitley Evans; his children, Nisey Felton (Kelly), Bryant Lister, Pamela Bright, Darryl Miller, Anthony Pervis, Leighton Sams, Audrey Ismail, Diane Starkey, Simone Wright, Angela Jordan, Calvin James and Bonus; and his grandson Joshua Lister. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
