He was predeceased by: his parents, Hilda and Salvador; his wife Neida; his sister Juana Duarte; and his nephew Joseph "Pepy" Duarte.
He is survived by: his daughter Yvonne McGovern (Brian McGovern); his grandchildren, Sean, Shannon, Siobhan, Brian, Aileen and Aislinn; his daughter Yvette Espeleta (Tommy Davey); his granddaughter Brianna; his niece Lily Slater; his great-niece Kristen (Jason Priollo); his great-nephew Eric Avila (Gianna); and also Ava.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
