Michael Hochrun Jr. Obituary
Michael Hochrun, Jr., 95, formerly from the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township, NJ, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023, with his family by his side at Health Park Medical Center, Fort Myers, Florida.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Memorial Gathering at Werson Funeral Home, 635 North Wood Avenue, Linden, on Friday, May 19th from 4 PM to 7 PM. Parastas will be at 6 PM Friday evening. The Memorial Divine Liturgy will be at St. George Byzantine Catholic Church, 417 McCandless Street, Linden, NJ, on Saturday, May 20th at 9:30 AM. Entombment of his cremains will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ. Relatives and friends that may go to the cemetery only, may meet the funeral procession at St. Gertrude's Cemetery office approximately at 11 AM.
Mike was born to Michael and Mary Hochrun in Yesenov, Czech Republic. At an early age he moved to the United States permanently and became a US Citizen. He lived in New Jersey for most of his life until he moved to Bonita Springs, Florida in 1993.
He retired from Buckeye Pipe Line Company in 1992.
Mike proudly served his country in the US Merchant Marines from 1945 to 1950 and 1951 to 1953. He served in the US Army from October 1950 to December 1951 before being Honorably discharged. He loved to travel, play craps in Casinos, and most of all spend quality time with his family.
Mike was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Vera Hochrun, his son Robert Hochrun, his sister, Helen Rembish, and his parents, Michael and Mary Hochrun. Surviving are his 6 loving children, Michael G. Hochrun, Marianne Crisitello and her husband Allen, Elaine Garces and her husband William, Gary Hochrun, Philip Hochrun and his wife Kim, and Diane Shimanowitz and her husband Ron, 9 cherished grandchildren who loved him dearly, Melissa, Michele, Bobby, Timmy, Christopher, Jennifer, Jessica, Aden, and Noah, his great grandson, Landon, and his daughter-in-law, Carol.
