He was predeceased by : his grandson Phillip Anthony Mackara; his parents, Larry and Milly; and his siblings, Marion Angeline and Don.

He is survived by : his wife Ann (Pedersen); his daughters, Annmarie Martin, Joyce Iannetta and Linda Iannetta; his grandchildren, Donna Giesen (Paul) and Nicholas'Little Nick'Mackara; and his great grandchild Aiden Giesen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and close family friends.
