He was predeceased by: his parents, William Carter and Ruth Carter (Ross). He is survived by: his wife Nancy Cornish Carter; his children, Kimberly Carter Coughlin (Rick), Caroline Carter Smith (Jonathan) and Robert Cornish Carter (Jamie); and his grandchildren, Kelly Coughlin, Connor Coughlin, Nathaniel Smith, Henry Smith, Mason Carter and Quinn Carter.
