He is survived by: his children, James Henry Smith III of Long Branch, Kamau Suydam of Eatontown, Latonia Suydam of Union Beach and Belinda Smith of Pennsylvania; his stepsons, Gerald Suydam of Kissimmee and Darnell Suydam of Eatontown; his siblings, Valerie Reeves of Long Branch, Beverly Williams of Long Branch, Gloria Smith of Long Branch, Linda Smith of Long Branch, Brenda McCall (Alfred), Roselle, Gregory Smith (Francesca) of Greenacres, Roney Smith (Thelma) of Iselin, NJ and Vernon Smith of Long Branch; his grandchildren, James Peace of Georgia, Jashawn Martin of Union Beach, Zaina Butts of Union Beach, Jermaine Finch of Union Beach, Jermiah Finch of Union Beach, Arman Smith of Pennsylvania, Kamaya Suydam and Yo'Niyah Suydam; his great grandchild Aria Martin; and his aunt Shirley Tilghman of Princess Anne. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
