He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl A. Hess, Jr. and Helen Clemensen Hess; his sister Helen Lowe; and his brother-in-law Leo Nichols. He is survived by: his wife Susan Stirone Hess; his daughters, Jennifer Taylor (Steve) of Chesterfield, VA, Carrie Hess (Jon) and Lawai of Kauai, HI; his grandsons, Ian Taylor and Joshua Taylor; his brothers, Robert Hess (Barbara) and Stevens Hess (Patricia); and his sister-in-law Barbara Nichols. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
