With sadness, we share the passing of Robert S. Chmiel of Maplewood, New Jersey. Robert, born on September 15, 1944 in Bayonne, New Jersey, passed away on September 9, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Robert for his warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. He was predeceased by: his parents, Tessie Chmiel and Stanley Pierse. He is survived by: his wife Lucille Chmiel (Iovino); his children, Deborah Watson (Jeremy) of Topeka, KS, Robert M. Chmiel (Brenda) of Flanders, NJ and Lisa Lawlor (Thom) of Brick, NJ.; and his siblings, Barbara Acanfrio (Pierse) and Stanley Pierse.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home (2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood, NJ 07040). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Sorrows Church (217 Prospect St, South Orange, NJ 07079).
