He is survived by: his wife Marleni Chavez-Luque; his children, Mayra Rivas, Andrea Velarde and Raul Sebastian Velarde (Dalilah Velarde); his brothers, German Rivas (Emma) and Carlos Rivas (Alejandra); his sister-in-law Beatriz; and his siblings' children, Walter Enrique Espinoza, Bruno Espinoza, Leitz Caballero, Cynthia Fiorentini-Chavez, Alessandra Fiorentini, Diego Alvarez, Gaby Alvarez, Sebastian Rivas, Brandon Rivas and Emma Gabriela Rivas.
A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Saint John Evangelist Roman Catholic Church (9 N Washington Ave, Bergenfield, NJ 07621).
