He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hassett and Sarah Hassett of Hassett's Tavern; and his siblings, William, Sarah, Kathleen, Marilyn, Margaret and Michael.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Sue Hassett (Martingale); his children, Amy Hassett of Brooklyn, NY, Robert Hassett Jr. (Smarda) of Metuchen and Julie Zaneto (Nick) of Metuchen; his sister Geraldine Wendell of East Brunswick; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Taylor, Harrison, Alexander and Jackson.
