He was predeceased by: his wife Kathryn M Schmidt; his daughter Marion Kathryn Schmidt-Walton; and his parents, August Schmidt and Marion Schmidt. He is survived by: his children, William Schmidt, James Schmidt, John A Schmidt and Susan Lewis. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
