He was predeceased by: his parents, James Callahan and Lillian Callahan; and his daughter-in-law Victoria Callahan. He is survived by: his wife Lillian "Jackie" Callahan; his children, Richard L. Callahan Jr. and Maureen Hardman (Timothy); his brother James Callahan (Janet); his grandchildren, Isabella, Caleb Callahan, Colette and Heath Hardman; and his pets, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests considering a contribution in Richard's name to the Mercy Center, Asbury Park.
