He was predeceased by: his wife Aurilla (Laurie); his former wife Gladys; and his brothers, Matthew P McDermitt and John H McDermitt. He is survived by: his children, Chris McDermitt, Amy (McGrane), Michael Whelan (Cynthia McDermitt) and David (Denise McDermitt); and his stepchildren, Richard, JoAnne McCoy, Peter, Joan McCoy, Leslie, Neil Scully, Jennifer, Ted Sidun, Kate and Ken Chatto. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or to Veterans organizations.
