He was predeceased by: his parents, Mahlon Smith, Jr. and Irma Wegener. He is survived by: his wife Katalin Luczay-Smith; his children, Renata Nelson (Scott) of Vienna, Tamara Upton (Michael) of Basking Ridge, NJ and Michael Ingardia (Lisa) of Johns Creek, Georgia; and his sister Jennifer Walker of Naples, Florida. He is also survived by grandchildren.
