He was predeceased by : his father Melvin Lane. He is survived by : his wife Carol Lane; his children, Christie Lane and Derek Lane II; his stepson Michael Dimacale; his granddaughter Eliza Lane; his mother Patsy Lane; and his siblings, Linda Murphy-Lawrence (Bob Lawrence) and Gregory Lane. He is also survived by one niece, two nephews, one great-niece, two great-nephews, and many aunts, uncles, cousins.
