He was predeceased by: his parents, Jane Dodd and John Gilbert Yawger; and his brother William Hays. He is survived by: his significant other Jean Maureen Harding; his sons, Fred (Susan), John (LuÁnn) and William; and his grandchildren, Cory (Gillian), Andrew (Christine), Matthew (Ashley) and Heather Dodd.

He always checked in with a call if he hadn’t seen me, and always had time for a chat.when we saw each other. John was my “light”. He grounded me, inspired me, and warmed my heart. He reminded me of the important things in life- kindness and love. …at 97 John never forgot to bring my garbage cans in! He was a true gentleman ..🩷”
