He was predeceased by: his parents, Reginald Peniston and Carolyn Peniston; and his brother Michael Peniston Sr.. He is survived by: his siblings, Joanne Peniston and Jeffery Peniston; his sister-in-law Deborah Peniston; his uncles, Dwight Gray and Mark Gray; his aunt Paulette Wainright; his siblings' children, Shannah Baker, Chelsey Peniston, Victoria Peniston, Michael Peniston II and Sean Peniston; his great-niece Jasmyn Sanders; his great-nephew Sidney Woodside III; and his close friend Mark Warren. He is also survived by cousins, extended family, and childhood friends.
