She was predeceased by: her husband Edmund "Eddie" Simoes Moraes. She is survived by: her children, Eddie Moraes, Tony Moraes and Michele Moraes Hernandez; her sisters, Laura Pereira and Mary Pereira Ramalho; and her grandchildren, Aiden, Liam, Christian, Luan, Diego, Marisa, Michael and Monica. She is also survived by relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 8:30 AM at the Buyus Funeral Home (426 Lafayette St, Newark, NJ 07105). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 9:30 AM at the St. Benedict 's Church (65 Barbara St, Newark, NJ 07105).
In lieu of flowers, Val requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital (stjude.org) or The Valerie Fund (thevaleriefund.org) for children with cancer.
