He was predeceased by: his parents, Britton Herbst and Louise Herbst (Carbone); his son Christopher Herbst; and his brother David Herbst. He is survived by: his wife Janet Herbst; his siblings, Bruce Herbst and Sandra Drowling; and his extended family, Mary Jane Burger, Stephanie Karoly, Steven Karoly, Donna Mikolai, Lucy Mikolai, Brenda O'Callaghan and Bill O'Callaghan.
