He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Smick and Harriett Smick; and his brothers, Ivan Smick and Wesley Smick. He is survived by: his siblings, Terry (Diane Smick), Donna McHugh (late Jack McHugh) of Dallas, Kevin (Kathy Smick), John (Wendy Smick) and Alice Puckett. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
