He was predeceased by : his son Michael. He is survived by : his wife Deborah; his daughter Mary Ellen of Albany, NY; his siblings, Joseph (Martha Caress) of Brooklyn, NY and Mary Schwarzenberger of Milford, NJ; his stepchildren, William Siss (Madigan) of Harwinton, CT, Emily Smolin (David) of Scarborough, ME and Greta Buerkle (Jason Sr.) of Keyport, NJ; and his grandchildren, Jason Jr., Ella Mae, Charlotte, Eli, Elsa, Laurel and Natalie.

Memorial donations may be made to the Oakland Police Department and Oakland First Aid Squad.
