He was predeceased by: his son Antonio Zaferiou; his brother George Zaferiou; and his son-in-law John Arno. He is survived by: his son Maria Zaferiou; his wife Constance; his children, Antony (Nancy), Irene Arno and Carolyn Paton (William); his grandchildren, Paul Zaferiou (Emily), Alexander Zaferiou (Becca), Teresa Cardwell (William), Karen Schiller Schmidt (James), Frederick Paul Schiller and Joseph DeLauro (Candi); and his brother Socrates Zaferiou.

In Lieu of flowers the Zaferiou family asks that donations be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, in memory of Apostolos Zaferiou.
