He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Helen Hanley and Theodore Podest; his wife MaryPat; his children, Kerry (Steven Vaccari), Lauren and Brendan; his siblings, Brian (Jeannie), Helene (Bill Branti) and Jeanie (Greg Daros); his sister-in-law Kathleen (Joe Martorano); and his mother-in-law Mary McCrain. He was also cherished by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ 07481). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 11:15 AM at the Church of the Presentation RC Church (271 W Saddle River Rd, Upper Saddle River, NJ 07458). For years, LBI was the backdrop for the family's summer vacations and during the pandemic, Teddy and MaryPat made a dream come true by buying a home of their own there.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Teddy's memory may be made to the Big Jim Foundation, which helps provide financial assistance and support to families facing the unimaginable challenges that come with a diagnosis of glioblastoma or other life-threatening neurological illnesses.
