He is survived by: his family Jack; his children, John F. McDermott, Jr. (Diane), Myles P. McDermott (Mary), Francis X. McDermott (Jennifer) and Patrick T. McDermott (Tiiu); his grandchildren, Johnny, Lauren, Lindsay, Carly, Sean, Ryan, Nick, Patrick and Colin; his great grandchildren, John "Jack" McDermott IV, Owen, McKenna and Riley; and his brother Kevin McDermott. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Jack's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
