She is survived by: her daughters, Kathryn Cappello Clancy (Michael), JoAnn Cappello, Carolyn Cappello Burns (Mark), Margaret Cappello Piliere (Frank) and Karen Cappello Kent (Robert); her grandchildren, Zachary Burns, Julia Burns Maloney (John), Kevin Clancy, William Kent and Chelsea Kent; her great grandchild Thomas Maloney; her sister Lorraine Wolliard; and her sister-in-law Teresa Rhodes Wolliard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joan's memory to the NJ League of Women Voters or a charity of their choosing.
