He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Monroe and Bessie Monroe. He is survived by: his children, Letiah, Hassan (Nisha), Jamal Wyche, Robert Jr., Ayanna and Isaac Monroe; his siblings, Andrew Monroe (Angie), Vanessa Monroe-Hamilton and Rodney Monroe (Cynthia); and his close friend Yvonne Merchant. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
