He is survived by : his granddaughter Emma Bates; his children, Timothy J. Bates II and Rebecca Taylor (Bates); his sister Blanche Bates of Baltimore; and his grandchildren, Avery J. Bates, Sonny Taylor and Emma Marie Bates.
