He is survived by: his wife Sonia (Castro Carcamo); his sons, Julio Canaca Jr. (Norma) and Edwing Canaca (Elisa); his grandchildren, Julian, Sophia, Olivia, Isabel and Cecilia; and his siblings, Berta, Pedro, Casimira, Ana Maria, Norma, Irma, Luis, Conception, Raul and Maria. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
