He was predeceased by : his parents, Oliver Jones and Ella Mae Thomas-Hamilton; his stepfather Bernard James Thomas, Sr.; his brothers, Bernard James Thomas, Jr. and Charles Bruce Thomas; and his brothers-in-law, William Johnson (Tammy), J. C. Johnson (Lonnise), El-Amin Shabazz (Judy) and Jose Johnson (Joy).

He is survived by : his friends, Michael Byard, Sonny McNair and Joe Hathaway; his wife Antoinette Nadine Hall; his sons, Troy Lamont Hall (Linda), Keith Brian Hall (Josephine) and Jahmil Shakur (Malikah); his sisters-in-law, Betty Thomas and Mabel McKnight; his grandchildren, Chanietta Yvonne Bradley (Elda), Jamika Bruce (Ronald), Dontryse Greer, Ajene Hall, Jahmil Bailey, Ishmial Shakur and Jabril Shakur; his great grandchildren, Z'Mrioni'Piggy Wiggy', Hamir'Chub Chub', Azaria'Chatty Kathy', Hasir-Eli'Lil Guy', Zahki Rodarte, Ishmial'Pito' and Aanisah; his nieces and nephews, Tayamisha Nashai Von Hendricks (Shakai), Francine Mozelle (Johnny Bazmore), Ruth Abdur-Rahman, Laquay Thomas and Maurice Johnson; his close friend Jacque'Butch'McCoy; and also Ethan Michael McClean.
