He is survived by: his children, Donald G. Nelson, Kevin Nelson, Mary Zaher (Tom) and Denise Decof (Barry); his sisters, Cynthia La Russo, Diane McAlvin and Peggy Rubino; his daughter-in-law Donna Nelson; his grandchildren, Jessica, Donald, Kevin, Nicole, Christine, Tom, Erica and Steven; and his great grandchildren, Shaelin, Liliana, Ariel, Donald, Lana and Livia.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home (781 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Christ the King Cemetery (980 Huron Rd, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417).
