He was predeceased by: his parent Auschwitz; his wife Nelly Alter; and his siblings-in-law, Francisco Escobar, Gloria Castro, Maria Escobar and Sophia Moreno.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sonja Michelle Alter and Jennifer Alter O'Sheal; his son-in-law Jon O'Sheal; and his grandchildren, Julianna, Jacob and Jordan O'Sheal. He is also survived by family that included Nelly's siblings and 25 nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to donate in his honor to a relief organization that provides aid to the people of Ukraine.
