He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Anton Wetzel and Maria Wetzel (Kübel); and his siblings, Gudula Wetzel and Dr. Peter Wetzel. He is survived by: his wife Hinda Winawer; his brothers, Winfried Wetzel and Dr. Konrad Wetzel; his children, Erik Steiner (Tara Grote), Kurt Steiner (Amy Biltekoff) and Sarah Winawer-Wetzel (Catherine Deneke); and his grandchildren, Noah and Ezra.
