It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Patriciu Mateescu (Princeton, New Jersey), who passed away on September 23, 2025, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his wife Rodica; his son Cezar; his stepson Ion; his daughters-in-law, Carmen and Deborah; his grandchildren, Nick, Matt, Max, Elizabeth, Ivette, Shannon and Marcelo; and his great grandchildren, Aiden and Amelia.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Mather Hodge Funeral Home (40 Vandeventer Ave, Princeton, NJ 08542). Visitation was held on Sunday, September 28th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home (40 Vandeventer Ave, Princeton, NJ 08542).
Patriciu was a prominent sculptor and ceramist, endowed with boundless creativity and sensitivity, who had a huge contribution to the recognition of ceramics as a branch of visual art in its own right.
