She was predeceased by: her parents, Miguel Betancourt and Rosa Chimbo; her husband Víctor Hugo Gavilanes Martínez; her son Víctor Hugo Gavilanes Betancourt; and her siblings, Luis, Yolanda and Margoth.
She is survived by: her children, Mery Cecilia, Blanca Jaqueline, Enma Susana, William Ramiro and Yosenka Carolina Gavilanes Betancourt; her stepson Diego Lovato; her children-in-law, Yuviry Algarín, Pablo Galarza and Liliana Galindo; her grandchildren, Kristian, Gregory, María Mercedes, Linda, Alex, Anthony, Jeffrey, Kristy, Emily, Jonathan, Nicolas, Priscila, Pablo Gabriel, Brian, Sebastian and Christopher; her great grandchildren, Camila, Isaías, Bianca, Joshua, Jayden and Luciano; her brothers, Miguel Betancourt Chimbo and Geovani Betancourt Durango; Germán González Gruezo. She is also survived by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Viewing was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home (275 W Milton Ave, Rahway, NJ 07065). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Emma Gavilanes, the family requests considering a donation to the Children's Lightning Wheels athletic team at Children's Specialized Hospital, an organization that holds a special place in our hearts.
