He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Patrick Gilbertie; his wife Geraldine (Apuzzo); his daughters, Christine Gilbertie, Laura Geil (Eric), Gail St. Peter (Donald) and Mary Maas (Bernard); his grandchildren, Robert, Elizabeth Geil, Emily, Jamie, Abigail St. Peter, Henry, Warren and Bruna Maas; and his sisters, Eleanor Gilbertie and Elaine Gilbertie of Westport, CT..

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
