He was predeceased by: his wife Clara Schmitz (Kropilak). He is survived by: his sister Miriam Mascola; his children, Frank Schmitz (Sally), Cynthia Moss (Tom), John Schmitz (Donna) and Richard Schmitz (Joy); and his close friend Edith Hartmann. He is also survived by five loving grandchildren.
