He was also cherished by his six grandchildren, and his seven great‑grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Walter Smith's favorite organization, Hope for Veterans® Programs through Community Hope, the largest nonprofit serving homeless veterans and families in New Jersey. Contributions made in Walter's memory will honor his lifelong commitment to supporting fellow servicemen and women.
