He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Beverly Castle Rutan; his children, Lawrence'Chip'Rutan (Ali) and Jeneen Schlotterbeck (Michael); his great grandchild Izzy; his siblings-in-law, Ed, Cathy O'Donnell and Richard (Joanne DeMayo); his stepchildren, Brianna Strater, Albert Strater and Travis Strater; and his former wife Joanne Rutan.
