Leonard leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Leonard’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Leonard will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Merlo and Helen Merlo; and his sisters, Tina DeRose and Jacqueline Demaio. He is survived by: his wife Gail Merlo; and his children, Paul Merlo (Jennifer), Philip Merlo (Marissa) and Jayne Chiaramonte (Garret). He is also survived by nephews, extended family, and friends.
A memorial gathering was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the McCriskin Gustafson Home For Funerals (2425 Plainfield Ave, South Plainfield, NJ 07080). A memorial service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 11:45 AM at the same location.
