He is survived by : his father Richard Johnston; his sons, Carter and Shane; his wife Gretchen Johnston; his son Wesley; his siblings, Dennis (Jennifer), Patrick (Denise), Brad, Mara (Kevin) and Heather (John); his nieces and nephews, Dylan, Jake, Hadley, Grace, Jeremiah, Lylah, Margaret, Elizabeth, John and William; his parents-in-law, Mike, Jane, Alle and Katie; and his friends, Josh, Matt and James. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

“Condolences to the entire Johnston family on your very sad and tragic loss. Michael spent a tremendous amount of time at our house during his years at Pope John. Joe and Mike became the best of friends and consequently formed a bond with our family. Mike was always respectful and ever smiling. News like this breaks my heart…far to young to pass. He will be missed by many I am sure. RIP #30.”
